SIXTY Sees: ‘Idle, Torrent’ by Alex Moy

If you’re looking for a video with a plot, look elsewhere. If you happen to be looking for a video that meanders beautifully between the somethingness and nothingness of space, this gem is for you. Animator and designer Alex Moy has created a wonderful two-minute animation set to a soundtrack ripe for a trip to Mars, filled with plenty of static and beep-boops. The piece itself—titled Idle, Torrent—has an anti-gravitational quality to it. Thin lines of black pencil quickly morph into globs of color and then, just as quickly, slide back into more regimented sketches. It’s hypnotic and altogether pleasant. Have a watch.
