Spinning fans in alleyways, the strings of electrical wires overhead, stalled traffic on the 101. If Kurt Vile’s video for “Pretty Pimpin” doesn’t fully encapsulate a particular state of Los Angeles ennui, we don’t know really know what does. From the buttery ilt bungalows of the Hollywood Hills to empty parking lots of 99 cent stores, director Daniel Henry follows Vile in the throes of an unpanicked identity crisis. Vile’s fifth studio album, b’lieve i’m goin down, is set for a September 25 release.
