SIXTY Listens: Bon Iver “33 ‘God'”

After releasing his albums at an average one- to two-year clip since 2007’s groundbreaking For Emma, Forever AgoJustin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) has taken twice as long with the soon-to-be-released 22, A Million. We’re eagerly awaiting what will hopefully be twice the payoff. And here’s a peek of what’s to come: the first song off that album, “33 ‘GOD'”, is a jumbled, beautiful mess of references and revelations. While Vernon’s work has always possessed a deeply personal thread–listeners are simply there for the sublime ride–“33 ‘GOD'” is one of the least linear and sensical, a story unprocessed. Have a listen.
