Karen O. Teams with Danger Mouse for ‘Lux Prima’

Hints of an exciting collaboration between Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O. and musician/ producer Danger Mouse came with the late-2018 release of “Lux Prima,” a lovely and meandering nine-minute track reportedly inspired by space. Then “Woman” arrived, a banging little gem that took the tambourine-smacking beat of the 1950s and subverted it into a pro-fem anthem. (Spike Jonze recently directed a live performance of the song on The Late Show, which you can watch here if you’re so inclined.) On March 15, the album dropped in its entirety, titled Lux Prima, and it is delicious. Have a listen to “Turn the Light,” where you can hear ever-so-slight hints of Danger Mouse’s days producing for Gorillaz.
